David Reindel A Personal Touch from a Committed Person David J. Reindel understands and respects the concept of building a career from the ground up. That’s exactly what David did: after making the dean’s list at Central Connecticut State University, David couldn’t get a break in the career of his choice—nuclear power. Struggling, this physics major found himself selling shoes to make ends meet. In 1971, perhaps by fate, he learned of an opening with an insurance company. “Times were hard. I was starting a family,” recalls David. “I liked numbers, and I liked people. It seemed like a natural fit.” And from humble beginnings, great things grew. By the ripe old age of 27, David had struck out on his own. His business grew from a one-man shop to eight offices by the early 1990s. David’s infectious energy had earned him considerable prestige, and the task of leadership. As the industry changed, so did David’s focus. “I’d gone into financial services to help people,” says David. “But I didn’t even have time to work one-on-one with clients any more.” Confident in his abilities, David sold his insurance business and started over.
